COSSEMENT CARDOSO is an architecture studio founded in 2020 by Gil Cardoso (Lisbon, 1992) and Charles Cossement (Tournai, 1992).
Trained between Lisbon and Tournai and with previous experience at Aires Mateus e Associados, they develop a practice that combines
conceptual research, formal experimentation, and attention to cultural and social context.

The studio has been establishing itself through a diverse range of projects — from collective housing to public facilities, rehabilitation, and
public space — and through recognition in national and international competitions. Notable achievements include 1st place in Carcavelos
(2019), 2nd place for the Serralves Pavilion (2018), 2nd place for the Serreta Lookout, Azores (2022), 2nd place for the requalification of
Martim Moniz Square (2023), and most recently, 2nd place in the international competition for the new Architecture and Design Museum
in Helsinki (2025).

The studio’s work has been presented at the Venice Architecture Biennale (2021) as part of the Portuguese representation In Conflict, in
the Lisbon Imagines the New European Bauhaus cycle (2024), and at Lisbon Design Week (2024). Their work has also been featured in
publications such as Ceci n’est pas un portrait (2024) and Lost Causes – Concurso Possibilidade (2025).

In parallel, both founders maintain an academic presence as critics and guest lecturers at institutions including Universidade Lusófona, the
Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon, and Université Catholique de Louvain – LOCI Tournai.
